As of 2023 I am still running Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. This machine runs 16 hours each day without burdening CPU or Memory.
Built in 2012 for around $1600 including: all computer components, the software, monitors, UPS battery backups and all peripherals.
Over 10 years have passed since I built this machine.
It has served my purposes well and continues to perform perfectly.
The photo above is from 2012. It shows multiple screen brands/sizes used.
(1-20" HP, 3-22" AOC over 1-20" SOHO and 3-24" AOC)
In 2021 I replaced those with six 27" curved screen Samsung and in 2022 added a 32" HP flat screen.
The curved screens have made quite an improvement for my aging eyesight!
I had been using 4-19" Dell CRT flat screens...before and after Y2K.
Goldilocks says :
The 8 monitor set up shown above was just too much...
7 monitors is just right...
Monitor 7 is turned 90 degrees with it's properties set to Portrait (flipped).
My older backup computer -- 2005 Dell Vostro 2-core CPU Windows XP machine
It has been upgraded to Window 7 with a 128GB SSD.
It uses all the older equipment I've accumulated and still functions very well.

Proposed trade station for 6 to 10 chart layouts
Building a new backup setup using a Win 10 machine...
- M-1 might have 2 long term charts (or 2 sets of combined charts)
- M-1 or M-2 could have the Taskbar, the Control Panel and a chart window
- M-3 thru M-5 could have 2 charts each
There might be room to also have a Time&Sales and DOM window on M-4 or M-5
I already have a computer and spare monitors for this proposed layout.
Other set up possibilities:
I purchased a "re-manufactured" Dell Optiplex ($200) from Amazon (i7 CPU, 16 GB memory, Win 10 professional) and added 5 new 24" Sceptre monitors ($100 ea.) that are run by 5 Diamond Video adapters ($27 ea.)
Works great and takes up much less space on my desk -- 10 charts fit nicely with M-5 set to Portrait (flipped)
that could easily replace my aging ASUS build

Both TradeStations compared
ApexTrader software does not allow simultaneously running their software on more
than one computer at a time...this would require separately funded accounts
(as well as data subscription enrollment for each account)
